Extensive scientific research shows that there are many health benefits of CBD. CBD is a component of Hemp, but it does not produce any psychoactive effects that would get someone high. CBD benefits are very wide spread because of the strong medicinal and therapeutic effects for even the most common conditions.
ANXIETY
CBD is believed to alleviate numerous different forms of anxiety. People looking to manage their anxiety with CBD Isolate should look exclusively at research on cannabidiol, not generalized studies of medical marijuana. Although there are fewer studies on cannabidiol specifically, the preliminary research has had amazing results.
In a study done in February of 2011, scientists selected 24 people with SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) who had never received treatment before. They divided participants into two groups- One received 600 mg of CBD, while the other received a placebo. The scientists then had participants take part in a public speaking test while researchers measured blood pressure, heart rate and other measurements of physical and psychological stress.
The CBD group showed significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort during their public speaking test. While those in the placebo group presented higher anxiety, cognitive impairment and discomfort.
In another study done in October of 2016, the University of Colorado explored whether cannabidiol could reduce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and anxiety-provoked sleep disorder. Patient was a 10 year old girl who had extreme PTSD due to sexual abuse. Patient had been on pharmaceutical medications, with not much help and horrible side effects. After being placed on CBD, researchers found that cannabidiol reduced the child’s anxiety and helped her sleep.
The studies are endless and give us hope in providing relief for so many others in the future.
DIGESTION
A healthy appetite is vital to a healthy body, especially when the body is healing. Some illnesses decrease the appetite to the point of preventing the body from healing itself. CBD stimulates appetite, according to the National Cancer Institute. In the human body, CBDs bind to cannabinoid receptors in the body. Scientists believe these receptors play an important role in regulating feeding behavior. CBDs stimulate appetite when they dock onto these receptors.
CBD has also been shown to help ease issues with nausea and vomiting. This is especially helpful for individuals enduring chemotherapy and other treatments for serious diseases.
CANCER
The National Cancer Institute details several studies into the anti-tumor effects of CBD. One study in mice and rats suggest CBDs “may have a protective effect against the development of certain types of tumors.” CBDs may do this by inducing tumor cell death, inhibiting cancer cell growth, and by controlling and inhibiting the spread of cancer cells.
One study by California Pacific Medical Center suggests CBD “turns off” the gene involved in the spread of breast cancer. These scientists found CBD inhibits ID-1, an action that prevents cancer cells from traveling long distances to distant tissues.
SEIZURES
Seizure disorders are known as erratic neuronal excitability causing CNS, mental, and physical manifestations that can be traumatizing to the person experiencing a seizure and to those around them. There have been numerous studies done showing the dramatic effects on seizures while given CBD.
In a study done in May of 2017, In this double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, we randomly assigned 120 children and young adults with the Dravet syndrome and drug-resistant seizures to receive either cannabidiol oral solution at a dose of 20 mg per kilogram of body weight per day or placebo, in addition to standard antiepileptic treatment. The primary end point was the change in convulsive-seizure frequency over a 14-week treatment period, as compared with a 4-week baseline period.
ANTIPSYCHOTIC
At least 1% of the U.S. population is effected by Schizophrenia. Numerous studies have been conducted on the effects of CBD being used towards psychotic symptoms associated with schizophrenia. One study conducted by the University of Cologne in Germany in March of 2012 shows amazing results.
CBD continues to surprise medical researchers with the variety of common health benefits it provides. An increasing number of scientists, physicians and consumers are learning about these health benefits and incorporating CBD into a healthy lifestyle plan.
Although it’s evident that CBD can be helpful for many conditions, medical decisions should be made on the individual basis of each patient. Therefore, CBD should only be used after consulting with your doctor. Although there are no side effects from taking CBD, if anything arises, your physician will be aware and can monitor you and your use of cannabidiol products.
